Walking into such open space had to have been frightening for everyone. There is nothing that could convince me otherwise. Nobody found solace here, and it is not comfortable to anyone. The open spaces always reeked of some cleansing agent that couldn't clean itself, and the bitter white walls didn't have their smudge of acceptance. Even people lost their warmth. In such areas everyone was a cold stranger that would have nothing to do with you. Carrying their own bags, walking in straight lines, and talking on telephones. There's nothing comforting about getting on an aeroplane to anywhere, but the airports always made it worse.
