👋 Going pseudonymous on the internet again. Feels important to me to shed identities, like chapters to my life.

If you don't recognize me, hello! I'm sōm, or hylst, whatever you prefer. I'm passionately curious, and consumed by far too many interests. Approximate knowledge liberated me, and I'm on a quest for all of it. I like complex processes, and on-going rituals: Ecosystems, Infrastructure, Protocols, Governance, Software, Culture, Networks. I love words, music, art, games, and design broadly. Pre-agricultural humans and their history in particular.
Asides from learning things, I also like doing things, especially outdoors. Cycling, climbing and sailing. Meeting new people. Programming, writing, cooking. Gardening. Playing with my cat. My website still under construction.
I have a penchant for fairness, cooperation, reflection, kindness and communication. I'm drawn to ideals of sustainability, privacy, and the DIY. I have high standards and seek to live up to them on a daily basis. I don' t always achieve this, but the focus is in the striving. I am driven fundamentally by hope, wielding it as a weapon for better tomorrows.
